Jaws Drop for Audi R8 China Edition with Shark Skin Interior
The name is surprisingly simple: the Audi R8 China Edition. This special edition Audi has emerged to provide something a bit more exclusive in the competitive Chinese market. The clincher: There can be just 80. Maybe 1% of Chinese R8 owners will take the 5.2-liter V10 sportster to its limits…but the China Edition is not about that. The exclusive version has received no power upgrades. So what is the deal?
The Audi R8 China Edition steers clear of the traditional reds and golds in favor of a cool blue coat with gray accents.
Owning an exotic car like an Audi R8 is a status thing. With a special edition car, there is not necessarily a need for a power increase as much as a desire to provide something rare and almost unattainable for a select few to own and preserve.
The cabin is coated with shark skin, carbon fiber, Alcantara and even Chinese symbols on the shifter.
Despite stereotypes, this exclusive R8 will feature Malibu blue with suzuka gray sideblades, or an inverse…no loud reds or golden dragons here. The cool blue effect is finished off with 19-inch high-gloss black wheels boasting 5 twin spokes in a Y motif. The overall outfit demands respect, though it is the interior that has captured imagination: it is drenched in shark skin and Alcantara.
The differences in the China Edition are aesthetic and not overly obvious
The option to inverse the blue and gray is available
As always, you have to pay to play. Chinese buyers will pay dearly to own one of the 80 examples of the Audi R8 China Edition: a cool 2.6 million yuan ($421,925).
