VW Up! Concepts Are Rolling Out
The VW Up! concept emerged at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it appears the diminutive family is expanding. With three Up models rolling out, it appears they will be reaching production on a tiny assembly line soon.

The VW Up! Family includes:
- Cross Up!
- E-Up!
- Up! GT
Cross Up!
The Cross Up is a 75 horsepower version of the 3-cylinder and features front wheel drive. The exterior is sharp with dark charcoal fenders, silver roof rails, and a larger air intake. Of the tiny family, this one is decidedly the tough looking little guy. The cabin is laden with a piano-black finish and red and gray seat trim.
E Up!
As is evident by the name, this is VW’s electric Up. This version boasts a front-mounted electric motor pushing 80 horses to the front wheels. It currently features a single-speed transmission and takes 14 seconds to hit the 0-60 jump. Top speed is around 80 miles per hour and its range is 90 miles per charge. It only takes 5.5 hours to recharge the 450-plus-pound battery via a European 220-volt household outlet. The E Up may emerge in 2013 with some tweaks.

GT Up
The GT is usually the favorite, and this version will likely hold that title among its jealous siblings. It may be small, but a bit of turbocharging in a 1.0-liter works wonders. This 3-cylinder pocket rocket packs 110 ponies and is also a front-wheel drive. Drivers get a six-speed transmission and a touch more power to play with on their daily commutes…because this certainly is not a track car family.
