VW Golf Vs. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

When the world’s fastest cars come to mind, they tend to be the supercars: the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Lamborghini LP700-4 Aventador, Hennessey Venom and the like. Often the high-performance aftermarket tuners are overlooked, even when they create a monster–like the VW Golf 16Vampir! The clincher: The 16Vampir destroys the 0-62 mark in 2.3 seconds, which happens to be faster than the Veyron Super Sport. To put this into perspective, the Veyron SS is currently the fastest production car in the world.

The world’s fastest VW Golf packs 1,013 horses under its ugly hood!

The VW Golf 16Vampir (Vampire?) twists out enough torque to rocket it from 62 miles per hour up to 122 in 3.1 seconds. It is the world’s fastest competing Golf in the quarter mile, with a record of 165 mph in 8.65 seconds.

One just does not think of a Volkswagen Golf as a possible competitor to a hypercar, giving this little guy the advantage of surprise. The list of amazing speed demons is relatively exclusive, though a few talented tuners do snag headlines here and there. The VW Golf is one of the best small daily drivers available, and it is certainly among the most exciting to tweak with high-performance parts!

Behold, an unlikely monster! There is no Bugatti present, but you get the idea by watching this clip.

Under the eyesore hood of the Vampire lurks a seemingly innocent 1.8-liter 4-banger. That little engine kicks out a staggering 1,013 horsepower on E85 fuel thanks to a four-motion Garrett GTX4202R turbocharger. Not sold? Factor in a sequential 4-speed dog-shifter, AWD and a svelte curb weight of 1,135kg and then think acceleration. Yep, they had us at hello, too.
