What is the difference?

The MK7 Golf GTI comes equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged TSI engine. Both Golf GTI models with and without the PP come in a 2 door and a 4 door option, as well as both have the option to be in a 6 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed DSG automatic transmission with Triptronic and sport mode.

Then there is the Golf GTI that comes with the Performance Package. This Performance Package comes with an additional 10 hp added to the turbocharged TSI engine, making the overall performance of the car 220 hp. In an addition to that the Performance Package comes with a VAQ (Vorderachsquersperre) front limited slip differential lock. It is an electrically controlled front axle transverse differential lock. The third addition in the PP is the upgraded front and rear brakes, similar to a big brake kit that is on the last-generation Golf R.

What does the VAQ front limited slip differential lock do?

For those who are not familiar with VWs VAQ system. Previous VW models have come with a purely mechanical lock. The Performance Package has made the transition to an electrical lock. With this new system, it makes it possible to completely avoid negative effects on steering response and steering precision that otherwise occur with mechanical locks. As a result, the system realizes the full potential and maximum performance of a differential lock with regard to vehicle dynamics, because comfort is not impaired under any circumstances.
