The DSG transmission is a direct-shift gearbox, that has an electrically controlled dual clutch multiple shaft manual gearbox, in a transaxle design with a conventional clutch pedal and a full automatic and semi-manual control.

A lot like the routine oil change your motor needs, your DSG transmission needs a routine oil change and service as well. It is recommended that you service your DSG transmission every 40,000 miles.

 

What does it take to service a DSG transmission:

  • 5 liters of Audi/VW Direct Shift Gearbox Oil

DSG_Oil

  • 1 Audi/VW Direct Shift Gearbox Filter

DSG_Filter

  • 1 Filter Gasket

DSG_Gasket

  • 1 Seal

DSG_Seal

  • 1 Drain and Fill tool/hose
DSG Fluid Gravity Fill Tool - VAS6262 (Audi,Volkswagen)

The DSG Fluid Gravity Fill Tool – VAS6262 will allow you to change your own DSG fluid without the pricey dealer tool.

 

*Please note if you do not use OEM Oil, make sure that the spec on the fluid you are using matches the spec of the OEM oil. Using oil with a different spec can compromise the warranty on your transmission

It is recommended that you perform this service while the engine is still hot. That will ensure the extraction of the most quantity of transmission fluid, due to its increased fluidity when heated.

The cost of this service will run you around $120-$150 for all of the required materials.
