According to Cesar Muntada, an Audi exterior designer specializing in lighting, “Our slogan is ‘progress through technology. So the key to all Audi design is giving the purest expression of that technology.”
Muntada continued,
“We want an Audi to be as recognizable at night as it is during the day. We always use the system that performs the best. We have taken something functional and made it an aesthetic.”
Audi first experimented with LEDs in daytime running lights. The sophistication that has followed includes separate low and high beams, turn indicators and entire head and tail lamps. The lighting cues actually serve to distinguish Audi vehicles now, nearly as much as the shape and powertrain of the ride!
