2013 Audi TT RS Packs a Punch
The Audi TT RS is back and it is packing! A specialized 5-cylinder engine lurks under the svelte hood, pushing out 360 horses. This model is a special niche for the brand, and an excellent project to drench with aftermarket performance parts. The Audi TT standard version is easier to locate, and just as easy to adorn with high-performance enhancements.
Audi claims the next-gen TT is “A legend reborn”. Referring to the return to a 5-cylinder powerhouse? Absolutely.
Specifications for the 2013 Audi TT RS:
- A turbocharged 2.5-liter inline 5 engine
- 360 horsepower
- 343 pound-feet of torque
- 6-speed manual transmission
- Optional automated transmission
- 0-60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds (as tested by Edmunds) FYI: that is faster than the flagship Audi R8 sports car, which hits the 60 marker at 4.4!
- 18 city/25 highway mpg rating
The Audi TT is the entry-level sportster in the Audi/VW AG selection of performance cars. It is a direct threat to the segment leading cars from BMW and Porsche.
In the performance arena, Audi once again taunts–stating that it takes “nowhere near” 5 seconds to hit 100km/h (62 mph). Top speed is said to be 155 miles per hour. The TT RS delivers explosive acceleration and unrivalled sound, and perhaps with the introduction of the next version, unprecedented power!
This is the 2013 Audi TT RS Plus, which appeared at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
The differences between the standard TT and the TT RS are few. The RS version boasts 19-inch wheels, a revised front fascia, side sills, more dramatic rear wing and diffuser. The RS also packs an additional 149 horses because of the special 5-cylinder engine, firmer suspension tuning, lower ride height and adaptive suspension dampers.
