What Not to Do with a VW Aftermarket Project

This Volkswagen Phaeton converted to resemble a Bentley is pure overkill, but a great conversation starter for the pub. It is amazing what can be found on Craigslist, including the VW Bentley below, listed for just $17,000. While everyone loves a good high-performance aftermarket tweaking, especially with a Volkswagen product, this is a bit shocking. This may be the worst VW aftermarket project on the planet. If you know of something worse, please share!

Overkill: Volkswagen Phaeton Bentley conversion

On the bright side, some moron is going to be pointedly placing his “Bentley” key fob in view of every woman he sees. (This theory is based on the assumption that a male will buy this in hopes of attracting women). If any of you run into the buyer, share the photo with us.

The features that transformed the Phaeton into a Bentley wannabe include:

  • Bentley rims, likely from an old Continental
  • Bentley brakes
  • Modified front grille
  • Bentley badges
  • Retains VW Phaeton overall shape and lines
  • Bentley key fob
  • It is packing the Phaeton 6.0-liter W12. The Bentley Continental GT and Flying Spur are powered with the W12. Could this have been the inspiration for the identity crisis?

The interior could never be mistaken for a Bentley. It does, however, look a lot like my old Jetta.

The front of this car looks like a Volkswagen. The side looks like a Volkswagen. Even the Bentley inspired grille with the oversized Bentley logo perched above it fail to communicate, “Look at my Bentley!” VW aftermarket

The rear view…still looks like a VW!

Though there are a slew of additions and alterations, this fake Bentley would only fool a complete fool. The seller wants $17,000, so they can laugh all the way to the bank.
