VW Jetta Hybrid Hits 400-Mile Eco Driving Rally
The Volkswagen Jetta hybrid hit a milestone recently at a California eco rally, hitting 49.9 miles per gallon during the 400-mile haul! That is certainly close enough to the 50 marker for satisfaction. If this model gains market traction, expect an arsenal of high-performance parts and aftermarket add-ons to immediately follow!

The rally marked the first-ever ‘Think Blue. World Championship” (yes, the period is supposed to be there). The competition pitted fuel and energy efficient autos against each other in an endurance-based, 402-mile stretch between San Francisco and Santa Monica, California.
Think Blue is an energetic way to increase eco-awareness and promote new energy and fuel consumption strategies and options.
VW’s prized Jetta hybrid appeared at the Detroit Auto Show last January. At that time, the brand claimed the hybrid could achieve a combined 45 miles per gallon, a figure that has since improved. Power was not limited in the interest of the environment, however, as this version can climb to 60 miles per hour in 9 seconds. While that is certainly not a track time to brag about to the owner of a Hennessey Venom or Audi R8, it is impressive for a daily driver VW.
